I started sweating just reading the in class description. This will sound silly, but I think I could only do the breath holding part if I was underwater. Faced with the option of water up my nose/in my mouth, I can perform. Just sitting in the plain ol' air? Nah, I'd give after a very short time, I'm sure!
Oh you are quite the adventurer! Or is it adventurette? Anyway, the competitive part is predictable and not at all attractive but breathing and even cold plunges are health-supporting for many of us. 😉 my two cents
Adventure to me has certainly changed from when I started Hey Eleanor at 30-- there's something about getting older (and having kids) that makes jumping out of a plane less appealing. ;)
I do enjoy a cold plunge (occasionally!), and any sort of breathing activity is good (also, crucial for living!). I love trying new things-- you never know when you might stumble upon something that really works for you. And if not, at least a good story.
So now I'm curious, have you bought any "health" products due to social media marketing? Maybe an ice bath or mushroom coffee mix?? Always enjoy seeing your letters in my inbox. ❤
Oh definitely! I've tried a few of the mushroom coffees (bought MUD WTR recently for a less caffeinated coffee substitute. It's... fine). I am always intrigued by the "perimenopause supplements", but know that they are likely a cash grab and ineffective. The marketing speaks to all of my frustrations with my health/traditional doctor experiences. Ultimately, I just don't think it's the answer, and I worry about general product safety as they are unregulated. BUT WOW HAVE THEY IDENTIFIED A PROBLEM.
The perimenopause stuff has my number, for sure. I haven't succumbed (yet), but geez, is it tempting. If one little pill/powder/practice can cure everything, take my money. But you're right; it's not the magic fix, and safety is a huge concern. I'd also be concerned with who they might share my info with. Ugh.
I had a Facebook friend go down the conspiracy way during lockdown. Wim Hof cold water bathing was one of the many things he started doing, so there's a definite 'superior strength man' vibe to it, imo.
Honestly, I can't quite recall-- it was a while back, but maybe?
They sometimes run classes at my gym that are included with membership. In general, I enjoyed that it was in more of a class setting than on my own, especially because I could ask questions after. I think just about anything like this (exercise, yoga, meditation) can be done at home, and is great for convenience. If I really connected with the practice, I would probably get the app. However, I personally feel like I get more out of the experience when I am leaving my house and not having kids screaming in the next room, or dogs crawling all over me. It's sort of like seeing a movie in the theater instead of at home-- less distraction, more of an experience. But both are good.
I couldn't resist, I googled him. Can't judge a book by its cover, but you can judge a 65 year old man by his shirtless PR photos. Yep, nope.
Susan! You crack me up!

This makes total sense to me! I think I’d be too panicky underwater, but maybe not. Let’s try it! Jk 😂
Molly you are such a good writer!
Thank you!

Oh god, the info! Hadn't really even thought of that.

I like your writing. Thanks for your humor.
Thank you! I had a lot of fun writing this :)
did your instructor not explain you hold on the final EXhale?
and who pays for this? you get the app for free and pick up a book from the library
