I am cleaning out my in box. Read this and spit wine. I love you. The best part of having Cancer - and the horrible fake boobs - is no more bras. Though... to be fair, my chest is constantly so constricted. I feel like I am drowning in a sports bra, so there's that.

We went to the fair on Monday and I was about to jump in the pool with the DNR fish! Yes, the no more bras is kind of gift. I can for sure think of better gifts (i.e. not having breast cancer in the first place), but sometimes you gotta take what's offered!

You need a New England summer. We put the heat on yesterday

Are you me in a parallel life? One of the best things about living where I do as opposed to where I used to is that the temperature range is generally between 30F and 70F, any day of the year. I can't handle 1) heat & humidity, 2) concerts or festivals, and 3) bralessness (except for sleep). So yeah, I'm pretty much no fun, but I'm a good time at home or outside with my (few) people and some dogs!

I like summer, but only when it is under 80 degrees and low humidity. The days where you sweat standing still are the worst! And the older I get, the less I like swimming in lakes. Especially after fishing and knowing what's swimming around in there.

Yes, if summer could just behave and be normal, I'd love it!

I jumped off a pontoon for the first time in YEARS this summer (it was disgustingly hot) and it actually was pretty great... though I did have a comfy floating chair to protect me from the big scary monsters that have never (not once!) actually bothered me outside of my imagination.

Dude, are you me? Honestly, the whole thing is so relatable - I wrote about similar experiences a couple of weeks back. The summer messes with my mental wellbeing. My partner is exactly the same and the attitudes of people towards us and our reluctance to be outside in this weather is just baffling. Like, I have to apply CREAM TO MY SKIN TO STOP IT FROM BURNING. This is not normal (that said, I wear SPF on my face all year!) People are always like "Oooh you'll miss it when it's gone." No. No I will not. I spent my childhood avoiding going outside in the summer and my mother still doesn't understand it - it's almost thrown at me as a criticism. "Well, you don't like hot places." No, I don't. But I don't whinge at people who don't like the cold. People need to mind their business. Apologies - that turned into a rant. Stay cool!💚P.S. the chub-rub struggle is real - cycle shorts are the only way... thick thighs save lives, but could also start a fire if one isn't careful...

I LOVE A RANT! And a good pair of bike shorts. ;)

Well…I love the summer, love the heat, love what it does to my garden. And I am 100% a beach/ocean girl…that’s my zen.

However 😂

Right there with you on the humidity & the MF bugs! My hair has looked crazy since May & just when I was starting to come down from the mental damage done from the billions of cicadas that infested my yard, we are now experiencing the “mites” that are currently feeding off those eggs laid in the tree tops & falling on us by the thousand! Shelves are bare and you have to get your cortizone anti itch products underground. We all look like we have small pox! It is BAD!

Also….lakes

Love to look at em, boat on em, even skip a rock on em, drunk & deep enough I might even noodle a bit. But-After jumping off a dock into a lake in Rhinelander WI as a kid and cutting open my foot from something I landed on that re stitches & then a few years later, having an infection in my ear so bad it developed a tumor /ear canal that had to be removed (ouch!) caused from dirty lake water. Give me a pontoon boat, a cooler, some pretzels & a juicy book!

Or you will find me by that fire you mentioned by the cabin..safe & dry.

I heard the cicada mites are AWFUL right now. As if the cicadas could be more yucky! I am very pro-pontoon boat-- and after your foot and ear, I don't blame you for choosing the dry option, either. :) Though I will admit to jumping off the pontoon this summer and it was pretty fun.

Yes. I also despise summer for all the reasons you listed, plus I get asthmatic in high humidity so we can throw that in as a reason. Basically I become a hermit from mid- May till October, as the weather in my home state of PA has become more and more unbearable.

I think the Pacific Northwest is calling!

Totally with you on Billie Eilish and Chipotle. I make better burrito bowls at home.

I hate balloons & I keep waiting for the trend where folks realize those damn things do way more environmental damage than a freaking straw ever could.

I'm not crazy about high heat & humidity, but I do like summer.

I relate to everything!

I’d be right there with you except I fell in love with the sun and heat this summer. So today’s 48F at 7 am wasn’t so welcome. Now I have to shift from soaking up the external heat to producing it from the inside. That’s what shivering is for, right?

You give m hope, Lasell!

I'm cleaning out my inbox (LONG overdue) and resonate with this SO much! Living in FL has me miserable 80% of the year. When we hit below 60 and under 40% humidity (all three days of it per year), I feel the most alive I've ever felt and revel in the open doors and windows. Reading outside on my patio loving it. Glad I'm not alone (all my friends think I'm insane).
